Write and review a shared document

Choose Document → Collaborative Editor in Add Stage. This mode creates a shared document for scripts, copy, or a working brief. It doesn’t import the layout of a DOCX file.

Use the formatting toolbar for headings, emphasis, lists, quotes, and other supported formatting. Keep headings descriptive so collaborators can find the section they need.

Watch the save status. Use Save for manual saving or enable autosave when available. Wait for a saved state before leaving, approving, or requesting revisions. A live collaborator’s cursor doesn’t prove that your latest changes have been saved.

If saving fails, keep the document open and preserve a copy of your recent text while you recover the connection. Don’t reload an unsaved document as your first troubleshooting step.

Select the relevant text and create a comment, or open Comments for the document discussion. Explain the requested change. Use replies for follow-up and resolve the thread when the request has been addressed.

Text comments refer to document content, rather than a media timestamp. Substantial edits may change the surrounding wording, so include enough context in the comment for the author to understand it later.

Open the document’s version history to inspect saved versions and use restore when you intend to bring an older version back. Restoring changes the working document; inspect the result and save before continuing.

Use the document’s PDF export when you need a fixed reading copy. A PDF export is a separate file, not a live connection back to the editor.

Approval requires the latest edits to be saved. Approve accepts the document’s current saved content. Request Changes returns it for another pass under the stage’s revision rules.

Approved documents and projects can become read-only. If you need to edit accepted work, use the permitted reopening action and review the effect on the workflow before changing it. A viewer can’t grant themselves edit or approval rights; ask the project owner to review their role and assignment.

For file uploads rather than in-app writing, use PDF and Word documents.
